What is HOSA? How do I start a chapter?
The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skills, and leadership development of all health occupations education students, therefore, helping the student meet the needs of the health care community. The purpose of the HOSA organization is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Occupations Education instructional program.
What a HOSA year might look like:
Open House – RECRUIT!
August & September: Recruit
October: Officers travel to Anchorage For Fall Planning Meeting (planning for Spring Conference)
November: Run concessions at a basketball game
December: Fund raiser – Candy Grams with greeting with Candy cane - $1.00
Get all info from members to register them with HOSA national and state by the end of the semester
Need: name, address, phone, email, what year in school
Make reservation for state officers to fly to Anchorage to Winter planning meeting in Mid January.
January: Students select which competitions they will enter, 3 only
February: Fundraiser: Valentines flowers – similar to candy gram
Practice for State competition
March: More practice – and arrange for travel to State competition
April: Decide if anyone is going to Nationals.
May: Car wash fundraiser
